Volkswagen Touareg R PHEV the most powerful in the range
The most powerful Touareg ever built is the Volkswagen Touareg R PHEV. The new version is the new peak of the range and has 462 horsepower.This is the first hybrid R-model and the first all-wheel drive PHEV model built by Volkswagen. The transmission combines a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 petrol engine that develops 340 horsepower and a 136-horsepower electric motor, for a total of 462 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The 14.1 kWh battery is located under the trunk floor. Volkswagen does not disclose the distance the car can travel in electric mode, but only can reach 140 km / h while operating with zero emissions.
The model is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a transmission that directs power to two decks, thus providing all-wheel drive. The Touareg R has a Central differential blocker. The driver can control the hybrid functions and select the operating mode using the 4MOTION Active Control switch located in the center console or in the multimedia system menu.
